Working with industry

AIS collaborates with industry and the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector to develop priority training package products for 11 of Australia’s industries.

In partnership with industry and government, we also conduct research and data analysis to better inform training investment decisions.

AIS promotes industry’s input into these activities by supporting 11 Industry Reference Committees (IRCs) representing the aviation, transport and logistics, maritime, energy, water and utilities, public safety, police, fire, defence and corrections sectors.

Together these industries collectively cover more than 1.3 million workers or almost 10% of the Australian workforce.

With support from AIS, the IRC’s develop a Skills Forecast and Proposed Schedule of Work that reports on the industry outlook, new and emerging skills, and associated training needs for each sector.
